Goose Gear

Business Spotlight

This month, we’re excited to spotlight Goose Gear, Inc., a family-owned outdoor manufacturer that has planted its flag and its headquarters right here in Grand Junction.

Goose Gear specializes in premium vehicle-based storage and camping systems for trucks, SUVs, and campers. In other words, they help turn vehicles into highly functional basecamps for wherever the road—or lack thereof—might lead.

Backed by generations of manufacturing experience, Goose Gear combines craftsmanship with modern CNC technology to design and build products for everyone from weekend adventurers and serious overlanders to public safety agencies and industrial users. Better yet, their products are designed and manufactured right here in Colorado, with roughly 80% of components sourced within North America.

GVORC recently had the opportunity to tour Goose Gear’s Grand Junction operation, and what stood out immediately was just how dialed the entire place is. From inventory and purchasing to fabrication, surface prep, module assembly, shipping, and fulfillment, every step of the process feels streamlined, efficient, and thoughtfully organized.

Equally impressive is the team behind it all. Employees understand far more than just their individual role, with many able to step into different parts of the production process as needed—a level of versatility and teamwork that keeps the entire operation moving.

That versatility is no accident.

Founder and CEO Brian Fulton, an avid hockey fan and former player, brings a bit of the rink into the way he leads the company. He sees a successful business much like a successful hockey team: everyone has a role, but the best teams are scrappy, adaptable, willing to jump into the corners, and ready to play wherever they’re needed. That philosophy was easy to see in action on the shop floor.

Goose Gear is also very much a family affair. Brian’s daughter, Aislinn Fulton, serves as the company’s Technical Writer, splitting her time between Colorado and Huntington Beach and helping carry the family business into its next chapter.

And Goose Gear’s journey to the Grand Valley tells a bigger story, one that demonstrates how outdoor recreation can be a powerful driver of economic development.

After experiencing significant growth, the company relocated its headquarters and manufacturing operations from Southern California to Grand Junction in 2024. The Grand Valley offered something increasingly valuable to outdoor businesses: room to grow, a strong business environment, an exceptional quality of life, and immediate access to the landscapes and recreation that are central to the company’s customers and culture. The relocation was supported by the Grand Junction Economic Partnership and included incentives tied to the potential creation of up to 49 new primary jobs over eight years

Companies like Goose Gear are a great reminder that the outdoor recreation economy extends far beyond the trailhead.

It’s manufacturing and skilled trades. It’s engineering, design, technology, entrepreneurship, and supply chains. It’s creating quality jobs in Western Colorado while building products that can be shipped to customers across the country and around the world.

And, yes, sometimes it’s a little hockey mentality mixed in for good measure.

We’re proud to have Goose Gear as part of the Grand Valley’s growing outdoor industry and excited to see what this local team builds next.
