About us:  The Cycle Effect (TCE) is a non-profit that empowers young women through mountain biking to create brighter futures and build stronger communities. We break down economic and social barriers to help our participants succeed. We equip our participants with goal setting and social emotional skills, leadership skills, outdoor education, community service opportunities, and more!

Girls Mountain Bike Program: The flagship program of The Cycle Effect, our Girls Mountain Bike Program focuses on empowering Latina and BIPOC young women, ages 10 to 18. The program aims to serve a minimum of 70% of athletes who identify as BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, or People of Color). The program also aims to create space for children with self-identified needs who would benefit from our programming. This program pairs mentorship alongside mountain biking. It uses the bicycle as a tool to teach transferable life skills, enhance mental health and well-being, instill confidence, and provide participants with transformative experiences to help them thrive on and off the bicycle. By providing the bike, uniform, helmet, and other mountain bike gear, TCE helps to break down economic and social barriers for girls and their families. There are 3 sessions offered during the riding season, each made up of 16 practices. Throughout each session, TCE athletes will improve upon their mountain bike skills, participate in mentorship discussions, experience exciting outings, get an insight into healthy nutritional choices for active lifestyles, challenge themselves in a TCE race, and connect with their communities. Apart from session practices, there may be additional programming experiences. These could include indoor workouts, adventure days, community events, recruitment outreach programs, volunteering opportunities, and other TCE events!

Our Values: Equity, Belonging, Compassion, Courage, Thriving, Fun. More information about our values can be found on our website: https://www.thecycleeffect.org/values

Inclusion Statement: The Cycle Effect works to provide young women equal opportunity and access to the sport of mountain biking. We aim to serve 70% of participants who identify as Latina and/or Black, Indigenous, or People of Color (BIPOC) and work to remove financial barriers while supporting social emotional well-being for our participants. By centering our values of equity, belonging, compassion, courage, thriving, and fun, we are committed to creating an organization that allows female-identifying and non-binary participants the opportunity to create brighter futures and build stronger communities.
