Position Summary
Responsible for appropriately fitting guests for rental bicycle equipment, operating a cash register, focusing on exceptional customer service, customer safety, and working safely.
Primary Responsibilities/Duties

- Sizes and selects appropriate equipment
- Perform inspections and routine maintenance
- Performs basic repairs for customers
- Process and receive payments, issues change, and receipts for lift ticket, season pass, rental, repair, and retail orders by cash, check, or credit/debit card
- Communicates with supervisor on refunds, credits, or discounts due to customer
- Test the bikes to make sure they are safe
- Ensures that cash register has adequate cash/change available; notifies supervisor in advance of cash/change shortfall
- Responsible for the security of the register; never leaves the register unattended when logged in and never shares login information with others
- Balance and reconcile daily deposit sheets with supervisor
- Maintain and balance sales/cash drawer
- Other duties as assigned within the Rental Shop
Core Skills
- Strong knowledge and understanding of bicycle equipment and technology
- Strong communication ability (both written and verbal)
- Advanced mechanical skills
- Ability to perform basic financial transactions, including counting money and making change
- Honest, friendly, and enthusiastic customer service skills
- Able to handle large groups, adults, children, and special needs visitors in a professional manner
- Professional, positive attitude in all interactions
- Able to lift 40 pounds repeatedly
- Ability to learn/use company-provided software
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Certifications/Licenses/Training
- Must be 18+ years old for cash handling
- UBI course encouraged
- All Safety Training related to position, including company-wide safety processes and procedures
Work Environment
This position is based indoors. Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
Customer Service/Guest Relations
Key public interaction position. Develop and maintain positive public perception of the department/company.
Attendance
This position requires the ability to maintain flexibility in a work schedule, which will include weekends and holidays. The Bike Shop is open Thursdays from 1pm-8pm (through the beginning of Agosto) and Fridays – Sundays from 10am-6pm during bike season.
