Position Summary

Powderhorn Bike School is primarily responsible for coaching and guiding classes on downhill mountain biking. This may include guided tours, class lessons and camps assigned for adults and/or children. Lessons take place Thursday through Sunday during the summer season (June through early October).

Primary Responsibilities/Duties

Mountain Bike Instructor

  • Teach lessons as assigned – class, camps, adult and/or children.
  • Maintain a friendly and helpful attitude while effectively dealing with the guest and other employees.
  • Participate in required trainings and orientations.
  • Maintain a high level of physical condition.
  • Maintain awareness of changing weather conditions
  • Represents the mountain area to the guest in a professional, friendly, and polite manner.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Competent cross-country & downhill trail biking ability
  • Knowledge of basic bike mechanics
  • Strong people skills
  • Excellent verbal skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment.
  • Excellent listening and feedback skill
  • Is flexible with hours and days of work.
  • Follow established policies and procedures.

Computer Skills

  • Ability to learn/use Axess Mostly Tech Desk

Certifications/Licenses/Training

  • PMBIA course encouraged
  • Seasonal Orientation
  • All Safety Training related to position, including company-wide safety processes and procedures

Work Environment

This position is based indoors. Must be able to walk on even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend even/uneven/slippery terrain, climb/descend stairs, stand and/or sit for long periods of time, bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift a minimum of 30 pounds.
