Part-time Development Associate

Overview:
Bikepacking Roots is seeking a part-time Development Associate to support the sustainability and growth
of the organization. This role is ideal for an experienced fundraising professional who is excited to work
closely with a small, collaborative team and who believes deeply in Bikepacking Roots’ mission.
The Development Associate will work closely with the Executive Director to implement priorities
outlined in Bikepacking Roots’ Development & Fundraising Plan, with a primary focus on individual
giving, donor stewardship, and fundraising operations. This is a flexible, remote position with a scope
that will be refined collaboratively based on the candidate’s strengths and availability.

Responsibilities
The responsibilities below outline the primary areas of focus for this role. We recognize that this is a
broad set of functions for a part-time position; final responsibilities will be prioritized jointly with the
successful candidate.
Individual Giving and Donor Stewardship
● Support the planning and execution of two annual fundraising campaigns and an annual monthly
donor campaign in collaboration with the Executive Director.
● Manage donor stewardship activities, including timely acknowledgements, personalized
outreach, recognition efforts, and ongoing relationship building.
● Develop and implement donor stewardship calendars and engagement workflows, including
donor segmentation and targeted communications for potential, new, lapsed, and recurring
donors.
● Lead ongoing maintenance and refinement of donor CRM (Little Green Light), including gift
acknowledgements, donor contact reports, list management, and reporting.
● Identify potential major donor prospects within the existing donor base and support cultivation
efforts through research, tracking, and personalized outreach.
● Track and analyze fundraising performance, including donor acquisition, retention, and campaign
results.
● Contribute content for donor-facing communications, including newsletters, email appeals,
social media posts, and website updates.
● Support strategies to convert our broader audience (email subscribers, social media followers,
event participants) into donors.
Corporate Partnerships
● Support the Executive Director in the cultivation and management of brand partnerships,
leveraging personal industry connections if applicable.

Grants & Institutional Support
● Research potential grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and public funders.
● Support grant tracking, reporting deadlines, and relationship management, if applicable.
Board & Committee Support
● Support the Executive Director in engaging the Board Development Committee to support
implementation of the Development & Fundraising Plan.
● Assist with preparing materials and tools to help board members participate effectively in
fundraising.

Qualifications:
● Passion for and commitment to Bikepacking Roots’ mission.
● 2+ years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, donor relations, or a related field.
● Demonstrated understanding of the fundraising cycle, including cultivation, solicitation,
stewardship, and reporting.
● Experience working with donor databases/CRMs.
● Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple
projects with competing priorities.
● Comfort working with spreadsheets and donor data; ability to analyze and interpret fundraising
metrics.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and able to work independently in a remote environment.
● Ability to collaborate effectively with staff, board members, and external partners.
● Commitment to fostering an inclusive, respectful, and values-aligned work environment.
Compensation & Work Environment:
● Part-time, up to 20 hours per week on average.
● Hourly rate: $28–$32 per hour, depending on experience.
● Fully remote role with a highly flexible work schedule.
